I really am just asking for some insight. Please don't tell at me for being negative. And don't even get me started on variations/attributes in Commerce. It shouldn't be taking so long to figure out when I'm quick with this usually. I might have to scrap it and start over with Drupal Ubercart. It's frustrating when I have a project due in a couple days and I'm still just trying to build a contextual taxonomy-based catalog. I want to provide more constructive contribution than complaining. What is your opinion of Commerce and what am I missing here? I want to get behind it along with the rest of the Drupal community. It's taking me 20 times longer to build an e-commerce site with Commerce than with Drupal Ubercart, which I can do in a day or two and it feels like the store needs to be a separate thing instead of the entire website being the store. ![]() I know it's just me and that I'm missing something, I've read the documentation and it feels like I'm in the Twilight Zone. It feels really rigid and inflexible and not easy to integrate into the rest of a Druapl site but lacks the basic functionality you would expect from a more rigid, separate solution, such as a catalog. I can't build a contextual view for a catalog or use the taxonomy view. I have been trying to convince myself to use Drupal 8 Commerce instead of the Drupal 7 Ubercart module to build e-commerce sites because the community seems to be behind Commerce and with D7 coming to end of life, there isn't as much D8 functionality for ubercart and I would love to contribute to it as well, but I can't understand some fundamentals of Commerce.įirst of all, products aren't nodes and I don't understand why.
